Honoring Margaret E. Knight. 1838-1914
In her life Margaret received 20 patents and conceived 100 different inventions. In 1870 she won a court case proving her invention against the metal worker who followed her design for the patent. She invented a machine that automatically folded and glued paper bag bottoms. Creating flat bottom paper bags. It was written that she made the world a more beautiful place because of all her inventions. Mixed media/ oil paint on brown paper mounted on birch box. Metal gears. Brown paper bags. 9 by 12 inches.
