Charlotte Bridgwood (1861-1929). Charlotte was the inventor of the first automatic windshield wiper called the electric storm windshield cleaner patented in 1917. By 1922 such devices started to become standard on vehicles, however her wiper used rollers rather than blades and unfortunately was not a commercial success. mixed media, pencil, acrylic and oil paint on box.
